Freelance AV work: common questions
Do you work with limited company and umbrella contractors?
Yes. We engage you as an independent supplier, so you can work through your own limited company or an umbrella. IR35 status is assessed per assignment and we are clear about it before you accept a job.
How is my day rate set?
You tell us your day rate when you join. We confirm the rate and the scope with you before you accept any job, so you always know what a job pays before you commit.
What kind of freelance AV work do you place?
Install and field engineering, commissioning, control programming (Atlona, Crestron, AMX, QSC / Q-SYS), audio DSP (Shure, QSC / Q-SYS, Biamp), system design (CTS-D), UC and VC room work (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Webex and Pexip on HP Poly, Neat, Cisco and Logitech) and specialist build such as LED and video walls. List as many disciplines as you cover.
Where in the UK do you have work?
We deliver across the UK and you set your own travel radius, so you only hear about jobs you would actually take. Design and programming work is matched nationally, including remote work where the job allows.
Do I need CTS or other certifications?
A real track record on AV or VC projects matters most. We ask for the certifications a discipline genuinely calls for, for example CTS or CTS-D for design work, plus the right manufacturer accreditations for programming.
Do I need references?
Yes. As part of joining we ask for references or proof of recent work, so the clients we place you with can trust who turns up on site. Have a couple of recent client or contractor references ready.
How do I get paid?
You invoice for the work you complete, and we agree clear payment terms with you up front so there are no surprises.
How long does it take to join?
The application takes a couple of minutes: your disciplines, certifications, day rate and coverage area. Once you are in the network, we get in touch when a job near you fits your skills.
